# See real profit on every product, without typing in 200 costs

August 14, 2026

## Overview

Revenue tells you what sold. Profit tells you what was worth
selling. The gap between the two is product costs, and entering
them one by one for a catalog of hundreds of products is the kind
of job that never quite gets done.

So we start with what you already have. In Settings → Product costs,
we read the costs you keep in Shopify and show how much of your
revenue is already covered by a cost. Often your best sellers are
covered already, and only a few gaps are worth filling.

Fill the gaps your way

## Only touch what's wrong

### Click any cost to correct it

Spot a cost that's out of date? Click it and type the right one. Products with no cost yet are just as easy to fill in.

### A spreadsheet that's already filled in

Download a spreadsheet pre-filled with every cost we already know, change only the rows that are wrong or missing, and upload it back. Blank rows are left alone.

### Store-wide defaults

Set a default once and it applies to every product that doesn't have its own figure, so you only need to enter the exceptions.

### Your costs stay yours

Costs you set yourself stay put when Shopify's change, and you can see where your figure and Shopify's differ.

### Per-variant costs

When a product's sizes or flavors cost different amounts to make, give each variant its own cost.

Fully loaded margin

## Profit you can act on

### Fulfillment and shipping

Per product, or as a store-wide default.

### Payment fees

A percentage plus a flat fee per order, the way your payment provider charges them.

### Sales tax

If your prices include tax, add the rate and margins are worked out on what you actually keep.

### Missing is never zero

A product with no cost shows as missing, never as zero, so a gap in your data never passes for a perfect margin.

### The past stays put

Past orders keep the cost you had when you sold them. A supplier price change doesn't rewrite last quarter's profit.

Those same costs power
