AI session replays for Shopify
Stop guessing why they didn't buy.
Your funnel already tells you where shoppers drop out. It has never told you why. Ordinary records the sessions, has an AI watch every one of them, and hands you a ranked list of what's actually costing you orders — in plain sentences, not a folder of videos to scrub through.
The problem
Recording sessions is easy. Watching them is the part nobody does.
Plenty of tools will record your shoppers. Then they hand you four thousand recordings and a search box. Watching even one percent of them is a full afternoon, so the honest outcome for most stores is that the recordings pile up untouched and the drop-off never gets explained. The recording was never the hard part — finding the five sessions that matter is.
Meanwhile the thing you actually wanted to know is sitting in there: the phone-sized layout where the add-to-cart button falls under the sticky bar, the discount field that rejects a valid code, the search that returns nothing for your best-selling product.
Ranked, not piled up
An AI watches every session so you can watch five.
Every recorded session gets read. Repeated clicks on a dead element, clicks that do nothing at all, the shape of a journey that doubles back on itself — all of it gets picked up, classified, and scored for how bad it was. What reaches you is a short ranked list on your dashboard, each entry a single specific sentence about what went wrong and a link straight to the recording that proves it.
Top friction this week
That's the whole difference. You're not deciding which recordings to sample — you're reading a list of problems in priority order and watching the ones you want to fix.
What it looks for
Eight kinds of friction, named the way you'd describe them.
-
Navigation confusion
Shoppers hunting for something that should have been one tap away — bouncing between collection pages, backing out, trying again.
-
Broken UI
A button that doesn't respond, a drawer that won't close, a layout that collapses on their phone. Things you'd never see on your own device.
-
Form friction
Checkout and signup fields being retyped, rejected, or abandoned halfway — the most expensive place in the store to lose someone.
-
Search failure
Someone searched for a product you sell and didn't find it. They were ready to buy and your search said no.
-
Price hesitation
Repeated trips between the product page, the cart, and the shipping line before leaving. Usually a total that surprised them.
-
Slow-page frustration
Waiting, tapping again because nothing happened, then leaving. Speed problems you can point at a specific page.
-
Probable bug
Behaviour that only makes sense if something was actually broken — flagged so an engineer can reproduce it.
-
Bot traffic
Sessions that aren't people, marked as such so they don't pollute what you're reading.
The difference
It knows what the session was worth.
A standalone replay tool sees clicks and pages. Ordinary is already holding your orders, your channels, and your reconciled revenue — so a session isn't an anonymous recording, it's a shopper who arrived from a specific campaign and either bought or didn't. Friction on the path your paid traffic lands on is a different problem from friction on a page nobody visits, and the ranking knows the difference.
It's also why this sits next to the rest of your reporting instead of in another tab with another login. You find the problem, you see which channel it's costing, and you can A/B test the fix without leaving.
Honest limits
What replays won't tell you
-
Why someone wasn't interested.
Plenty of shoppers leave because the product isn't for them, the price is the price, or they were only ever browsing. No recording turns that into a fixable problem.
-
Whether the fix will pay back.
A ranked friction list tells you what's worth trying. It doesn't prove the change worked — that's what running it as an A/B test is for.
-
What happened off your store.
Recording covers your storefront. Shoppers comparing you against another tab, or asking a friend before they buy, are outside anything we can see.
Privacy
Recorded with the same posture as the rest of your data.
Recording follows the same region-aware rules as everything else Ordinary collects, and you can turn it off for your store whenever you like. What's captured, how long it's kept, and who processes it are all set out in the Privacy Policy and the sub-processor list.

-
Multi-touch attribution
Know which channel was paying for the traffic that hit the friction — so you fix the page your ad spend lands on first.
-
Customer analytics
See whether the shoppers hitting a problem were first-timers or the repeat buyers you can least afford to annoy.
-
Data you can trust
The revenue a friction problem is measured against is the same number Shopify reports, to the cent.
