Illustrative figures
Is Meta or Google giving us the better return?
Google. For every $1 spent, Google brought in $2.60 in Shopify sales and Meta brought in $1.90. Meta’s retargeting campaign returned $3.40, but its two prospecting campaigns returned less than $1.
Did October’s sales drop come from new or returning customers?
October net sales fell 7% from September. Sales to first-time customers accounted for almost all of the drop. Sales to returning customers held steady.
How many customers came back within 90 days?
About 21% placed a second order within 90 days of their first. That figure only includes customers whose first order was at least 90 days ago.
Which products sold the most units last month?
The starter kit led with 1,100 units, followed by the refill pack with 840. Together they accounted for about a third of all units sold.
What it covers
Which Ordinary reports can I use?
ChatGPT can use the reports, connected accounts and date range available on your Ordinary plan.

-
A/B tests

What can ChatGPT access?
You choose whether to give ChatGPT access. It can read reports from eligible stores you belong to. It can’t change your orders, edit ads or spend money.
Customer details
Ordinary masks customer email addresses and phone numbers. Order and customer lookups can still return names and purchase details. Order tags, customer tags and refund notes are excluded.
Where your data goes
When ChatGPT reads data from Ordinary, it goes to OpenAI, the company that runs ChatGPT, and is handled under your own agreement with OpenAI. Ordinary sends it only when someone on your team asks, keeps a record of which reports were read, by whom and when, and doesn't control how OpenAI stores or uses it. Ask for customer-level details only when you need them.

Which Ordinary plans include the ChatGPT connection?
Available on all paid Ordinary plans, including Starter, Advanced and Enterprise.
Which ChatGPT plans can connect?
ChatGPT Pro supports this connection on the web. On Business, Enterprise or Edu, you may need a workspace admin to add Ordinary for you.
Which store will ChatGPT use?
Name the store in your question or ask ChatGPT to list the stores you can query. Your Ordinary sign-in gives you access to reports for each store you belong to on a paid plan.
Can it change my store or ad campaigns?
No. Ordinary gives ChatGPT read-only access. It can look up figures and order details. It cannot edit orders, change ad budgets or start a campaign through Ordinary.
What customer details can it read?
Ordinary masks customer email addresses and phone numbers before sharing results. If you look up an order or a customer, the results can include names and purchase details. Ordinary excludes order tags, customer tags and refund notes.
Why do two reports show different sales figures?
Ask ChatGPT how each figure was calculated. For example, returns count on the refund date in the Sales report. The Overview chart shows order totals before refunds.
How do I disconnect?
Open Ordinary under Plugins in ChatGPT and disconnect your Ordinary account.
Using Claude too?
The same connection works with Claude. Each person connects their own assistant with their own Ordinary sign-in, and sees the same numbers.
